Ben Bowie & James Gray take victories at Winchester Speedway Saturday June 19,2010
Winchester Speedway, Winchester VA Ben Bowie and James Gray were victourious in Saturday Nights main events at Winchester Speedway, as mother nature claimed the Late Model, 4 Cylinder and U-Car main events. The three events rained out will be made up at a later date. One hundred and three cars checked into the pit area for Saturday Nights main events.
The Eagle School Auto Parts Semi Lates seen Ben Bowie take his first ever win at Winchester Speedway. Nineteen cars checked into the pit area for the fifteen lap main event with Doug Hardy and Bubby Tharp Jr leading the field to the drop of the green. Hardy would take the lead on the start with Tharp second as caution would fly on the start for several cars spinning in turn two. The field would be set to a complete restart with Hardy once again taking the top spot. Tharp and Bowie running side by side for the runner up spot would see Bowie take second on lap three. Hardy and Bowie battling for the lead seen Hardy stop under caution on lap seven handing the top spot over to Bowie. Bowie in control over Harden, and Feathers who went pit side on lap one for a flat tire had worked his way back to the third spot. Bowie would continue leading the way with Harden and Feathers battling for the runner up spot. Laps winding down seen Bowie claim his first ever win, with Harden crossing second, Feathers third, Dennis Lamb fourth and rounding out the top five was Bubby Tharp Jr. Heats for the nineteen cars went to Doug Hardy and Trevor Feathers.
The Niningers Tire & Auto Parts Pure Stock division had twenty nine cars checked into the pit area for their twenty-five lap Winchester / Potomac Challenge race. James Gray and Micheal Carter would lead the field to the drop of the green with Gray taking the top spot.Bobby Franklin took the runner up spot with Carter a close third.Caution flew on lap eight resetting the field with Gray, Franklin and Carter.Several more cautions flew but did not change the top three. Gary in control would go onto pick up the win with Franklin second, Mike Bennett third, Carter fourth and rounding out the top five was Danny Sullivan. Heats race were won by Franklin,Gray and Mike Rose. Mike Corbin claimed the consolation race.
