DJ Myers victorious in Lee Stultz MemorialGreencastle PA’S D.J.Myers picked up his second win of the 2010 racing season at Winchester Speedway on Saturday May 8, 2010 claiming the 40 lap Lee Stultz Memorial. Other winners were Kris Eaton, Micheal Carter and Billy Sonner. Twenty-six Gasoline Alley Late Models checked into the pit area for the forty lap Lee Stultz Memorial on Saturday night May 8th. Andy Anderson and Myers lead the field to the drop of the green with Myers taking the top spot on lap one. With Myers holding the top spot and Anderson holding second, sixth place starter Bo Feathers worked his way into third. The trio stayed together as caution would fly on lap thirteen. With the field reset with Myers, Anderson and Feathers thirteen place starter Jason Covert made his presence know as he had worked his way into fourth. Myers in control while Anderson and Feathers would battle for the second position and switch spots only for a lap. Caution flew on lap twenty to reset the field again.Myers in control of the top spot while Anderson and Feathers were trying to hold off a fast charging Covert. Feathers made the move on Anderson on lap twenty eight to take the second spot, moving Anderson to third. Anderson with his hands full would see Covert make the pass on lap thirty-two for the third spot. On lap thirty-six Covert would make the pass on Feathers for the runner up spot and set his sights on Myers for the top spot. With laps winding down Covert could not make the pass and Myers would pick up his second win of the season. Covert would cross for second, Feathers third, Anderson fourth and Tommy Armel would complete the top five. The heat race winners were Feathers, Davis and Armel. In the Eagle School Auto Parts Late Models had twenty-four cars checked into the pit area for there fifteen lap main event and it was Kris Eaton picking up his first win of the 2010 season. Chris Eaton and Scott Sweeney would lead the field to the drop of the green with Eaton taking the top spot only to be slowed by a caution on lap one for a pile up on the backstretch that took out several drivers. The field reset for green seen Eaton jump out to take the top spot again over Sweeney. The top two would lead the field for the first eight laps when caution flew once more. Eaton in control, Sweeney second, Flaherty in third lead the way as sixth place starter Lamb worked his way into the picture. Lamb took over the third spot and set his sights on Sweeney to take that spot on lap ten. Lamb taking the second set his sights on Eaton but time would run out. It was Kris Eaton picking up the win, Lamb second, Flaherty third, fourth Kenny Moreland and rounding out the top five was Brian Buckler. Heat race wins went to Flaherty, Lamb and Eaton. Micheal Carter would pick up his first win of the season in the fifteen lap Ninigers Tire & Auto Parts Pure Stock main event. Twenty-Two Pure Stocks checked into the pit area for there main event. Josh Williams and Donnie Kenney would lead the field to the green with Williams taking the top spot. A lap two caution for Kenney and Rose would slow the field. Williams on the point would lead the field as caution would fly again on lap four for a slow moving Bennett. Field reset with Williams, Gray and seventh place starter Carter had moved into third. Gray would make the pass on Williams on lap nine to take the top spot.On lap twelve Carter would make the move on Gray and take the top spot. A lap thirteen caution slowed the field, it was Carter, Gray and Williams with Bennett sitting fourth. On the start Carter maintained the lead, with Gray a close second. Williams and Bennett would battle for the third spot as Bennett would make the pass. Crossing the line was Carter, Gray second, third Bennett, fourth Williams and coming home fifth was Bobby Franklin. Heat race wins went to Bennett, and Williams. The Dehaven Well Drilling 4 Cylinders had twelve cars checked in for there fifteen lap main event. Graham Smith and Chuck Johnson would lead the field to the green with Johnson taking the top spot. Johnson in control would see McCartney taking the runner up spot. The top battled as sixth place starter Sonner made his way thru to claim the second spot on lap five. Caution would fly resetting the field with Johnson, Sonner and McCartney leading the way. On lap seven Sonner would take the top spot. A lap eight caution slowed the field. Sonner in control had Whitlock riding second with Gray third. Sonner would hang on for the remaining laps to claim the victory. Second went to Whitlock, third Gray, fourth Diggs and rounding out the top five was Lichliter. The heat race was won by Sonner. Join us Saturday night May 15th as its Rolling Thunder Armed Forces night at the speedway. On tap will be the re-scheduled 40 lap Limited Late Model spring championship paying $1000 to the winner and $100 for 24th place in memory of Bob Carter. Also on the schedule for the nights events will be the Late Models, Pure Stocks, 4 Cylinders and the 20 lap Spring Championship for the U-cars. Double points on the line for the Limited Late Models and U-Car divisions. Intermission will be a tiring rolling contest.
